Most women think that because they get regular pedicures their feet and toenails are clean and safe from infections. What they don&#8217;t realize is that women are more susceptible to toe fungus, toe fungi, toe disease, toe nail infections, and toe nail disorders. <p>While nail infections are common enough &#8212; about 7 percent of adults suffer from them, usually in the toenails as opposed to the fingernails &#8212; the leading cause is not Candida but fungi from the genus Trichophyton. Those fungi are responsible for the vast majority of nail infections. Still, Candida is sometimes to blame. Whatever the specific cause, if a fungus invade the nails, it is known as onychomycosis</p>
<p>The best way to prevent a nail fungus infection is to have a good hygiene routine for your fingernails and toenails. When you trim your nails make sure they are clean first, and cut the nail straight across. Keep good practice with keeping your hands and feet clean, if you are prone to toe nail fungus you can look at obtaining specialist socks that aren&#8217;t made from cotton, which can tend to retain moisture.</p>

We&#8217;ve all heard it before, &#8220;you should always drink plenty of water&#8221;. It can&#8217;t be stressed enough. However, I believe that too much of anything is detrimental. So, yes, you can drink too much water! Experiment with different quantities and find out what works best for you.</p>
<p>One of the most misunderstood concepts in the world of muscle building is the protein drink. I remember when I first started supplementing my diet with protein shakes. Some of my friends asked if I had noticed any differences in my training like I was on steroids or something. If that was the only time I had been asked similar questions, I wouldn&#8217;t worry as much, but since it is so common, I&#8217;ve decided to address the point and even show you a couple of my favourite muscle building drinks.</p>
<p>First of all, realise that a muscle building drink is just a substitute for food. It doesn&#8217;t have any magical properties, its the nutritional equivalent of grabbing a chicken breast and putting it in the blender. While your protein drink should taste a helluva lot better than a blended chicken, it&#8217;s essentially delivering the same thing.</p>
<p>Now, lets look into making the best muscle building drinks out there. What you want to put in these will depend on what you personally like and what you are drinking it for.</p>
<p>I know that last statement will be a surprise to many of you. But the nutritional makeup of your protein drink should depend on what you&#8217;re drinking it for. Let me explain. If you are about to workout, you want your shake to be full of protein and slow releasing carbs, so you have the energy to work out at your maximum potential.</p>
<p>However, if you want to have a shake after your training session, you will still want plenty of protein, but you will want faster energy releasing carbs, so you can repair your muscles as quickly as possible. Make sense Don&#8217;t worry if it doesn&#8217;t, just accept it for the time being.</p>
<p>If you want to personalize your power drink or if you want to make sure what ingredients are in the power drinks you take in, you can make your own blend to meet what your body needs for a specific bodybuilding training set. There are many protein power drinks that you can blend and mix. Protein power drinks add muscle to the drink and it also contains carbohydrates, calcium, riboflavin and of course, protein.</p>
<p>Energy drinks are soft drinks advertised as being specifically designed to provide energy. Generally they include a combination of methylxanthines (including caffeine), B vitamins, and herbal ingredients. Other ingredients commonly include guarana (extracts from the guarana plant) or taurine plus various forms of ginseng, maltodextrin, inositol, carnitine, creatine, glucuronolactone and ginkgo biloba. Some contain high levels of sugar, while most brands also offer an artificially sweetened version. The central ingredient in most energy drinks is caffeine the same stimulant found in coffee or tea, often in the form of guarana (as in Josta, for example) or yerba mate.</p>
<p>Energy drinks are also used as mixers with alcohol. This combination carries a number of dangers:</p>
<p>* Since energy drinks are stimulants and alcohol is a depressant, the combination of effects may be dangerous. The stimulant effects can mask how intoxicated you are and prevent you from realizing how much alcohol you have consumed. Fatigue is one of the ways the body normally tells someone that they&#8217;ve had enough to drink.</p>
<p>The verdict on energy drinks</p>
<p>Evidence is beginning to emerge that energy drinks may be harmful to some members of our community. It may be best to avoid giving these drinks to children under the age of ten. With older children and young people, watch closely the amount of energy drinks they consume as well as any effects on their mood or behaviour. What&#8217;s really standing between your will and your workout is your brain. In 2007, researchers at the University of Wisconsin measured electrical activity in the muscles of exercisers while they pedaled stationary bikes. As their performance declined, so did electrical activity, which is doled out directly from&#8211;you guessed it&#8211;mission control. Turns out your brain can give out on your muscles whenever it wants to&#8211;even if your body has enough energy left for five more sets. Of course, everyone has a true limit (don&#8217;t try to bang out an Ironman tomorrow), but your noggin often puts on the brakes sooner than necessary.</p>
<p>So why does <strong>your brain act</strong> like an overprotective parent on prom night? Especially when you know that getting through the last painful set of lunges increases your chances of waking up tomorrow with buns of Biel? Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s going on: When you work out harder than you&#8217;re used to, your brain thinks, we have no data on whether an extra set of deadlifts will damage her body. I&#8217;d better make her pretty damn uncomfortable by reducing electrical output to the muscles so she&#8217;ll quit this nonsense. That&#8217;s when you start to poop out, cut your losses, and head for the showers.</p>
<p>But you can recalibrate your brain to chill&#8211;whether you&#8217;re strength training or trying to shave a few minutes off your half-marathon pace. The key is to train it to think Been there, done that. According to studies by Tim Noakes, M.D., a professor of exercise and sports science at the University of Cape Town in South Africa and the author of The Lore of Running, exposing your muscles to fatigue in a systematic and progressive manner sensitizes your brain to the extra effort in a way that keeps it from freaking out about sudden changes. One way to get the job done: isometrics, exercises that work your muscles without your actually moving them. Instead, you hold specific contractions for a set amount of time; adding more time increases your endurance. Dive into this heady isometric workout and within five weeks, you&#8217;ll have your melon completely brainwashed.</p>

Dr. Christopher Millett of Imperial College London examined the treatment of more than 8,800 people with high blood pressure at 16 family doctor practices in southwest London in 2005.</p>
<p>The study, published in the Annals of Family Medicine, found that despite considerable efforts to improve the <strong>treatment of high blood pressure</strong> in Britain, including new performance-related pay measures for doctors, differences in management between white, black and south Asian patients have persisted.</p>
<p>Black patients previously diagnosed with high blood pressure were significantly less likely to achieve an established target for their blood pressure than white or south Asian patients, the study said.</p>
<p>White patients who had high blood pressure and also two or more cardiovascular problems showed significantly improved blood pressure control, but South Asian patients with poorly controlled high blood pressure were prescribed fewer blood pressure lowering medications than their black or white peers, added Millett, the lead author.</p>

Scientists at the University did a research study including memory tests,<strong> physical checks</strong>, and brain scans on a total of 107 people. They retested this same group of people between the ages of 61 and 87, only to find that those that didn&#8217;t eat meat suffered from <strong>greater shrinking of the brain</strong>.</p>
<p>Researchers involved in the study concluded that the vegetarians and vegans had a greater loss in brain mass due to a Vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 is primarily found in meat, fish, and eggs. It is also linked significantly to Alzheimer&#8217;s disease and other cognitive failures.</p>
<p>This doesn&#8217;t mean that vegetarians need to immediately start eating meat; it just means that when they decide to attack meat-eaters they should think about their small mindedness before hand.</p>

<p>Oh, those were the days “ the days before you started suffering from pelvic congestion. You have no idea how the condition started, but the fact is that you&#8217;re pretty upset it has. Your pelvic congestion problems came to light a year or two ago, when you and your husband started trying for a baby. </p>

<p>You&#8217;d never given it too much thought when you experienced discomfort during sex with your husband “ you thought it was just because he was so well-endowed. Oh, if only it were that! You had a couple of what you thought were varicose veins from your gymnast days, and they were treated as such, until a second opinion landed you with the pelvic congestion diagnosis.</p>

<p>Specifically, you were told that pelvic congestion is caused by pelvic vein leakage, which constricts blood flow to the heart. This condition can also end up affecting your uterus and ovaries, and you definitely don&#8217;t want that happening. You&#8217;ve always said that (aside from being a gymnast “ yeah right) motherhood was the vocation you most wanted to do.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>So, the doctor (such a lovely man) that diagnosed this annoying condition has now referred you to a specialist. The specialist tells you that, as it stands, hormone treatment might help, as might radiation. Well, that would be fine, you think, if you weren&#8217;t trying to have a baby!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The news gets a tad bit worse, when the specialist informs you that, as a last resort, a hysterectomy might be needed. Your legs twitch (hey, they&#8217;re still flexible!). You can tell that they desperately want to kick this specialist in the face. </p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Well, no way are your dreams of having a biological child going to be dashed because of this. You take no precautions, and have some of your eggs frozen before treatment starts. As for your husband, well, it will be quite easy to get him to contribute. Who knew that those dirty magazines he tried to hide in his nightstand drawer could actually be of some help!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>You begin the hormone treatment. You&#8217;d always had terrible PMS, so you wonder if it will only exacerbate the problem. You think about getting your husband a suit of armor just in case. Well, the hormone treatment worked only a little, and so it&#8217;s on to radiation.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Thankfully, this treatment has worked, and your specialist has informed you that a hysterectomy won&#8217;t be needed. You consider hugging him (hey, those arms are still kind of toned!). Oh, what the heck, you do hug him. Once the treatment is safely eliminated from your body, it&#8217;s back to baby making, and maybe gymnastics.</p>
