yes, I’ve had the same issue. Much, much too large for a woman’s ring. Perhaps it depends on the brand, but the ring memory wire from Hobby Lobby is too big. However, I have used it to make a pretty nice wine glass charm (like for keeping track of which wine glass is yours). Turning the ends with pliers makes a sort of ugly charm but you can buy memory wire endcaps to glue to the ends of the wire and that ends up looking quite nice. I put on glass beads and add a dangly charm. The endcaps are essentially silver beads with a hole that doesn’t go all the way through; sort of like an indentation to stick the wire and glue it. Beadalon makes them.
Hope that works for you; I know it’s not what you asked for but it’s something that you can use the wire for at least. If that’s not an option, I’d take the wire back to the store you bought it from and return it, citing its flaw in design.

Did you buy the “ring size” memory wire? They sell it in 3 different sizes, necklace, bracelet, and ring…in my experience the ring size is usually perfect size for women’s fingers, only about 3/4 inches across….in fact they are usually too small for me, since I have chubby fingers, lol.
If all else fails you can try wrapping it around a round dowel or mandrel of the correct size to get it smaller, and it should hold the shape.
Good luck!
