my son’s milk teeth got cavities at an early age. Now his permanent teeth have started to come up. They are very fine. Since i have dental problems, how can i save his teeth from not getting those problems? I have heard of flouride treatment, is it safe ? please help me.

I brush twice a day and floss but I still get cavities and have gum problems. I didn’t have insurance for like, ever, but I still took care of them even though I couldn’t go to a dentist. What the heck did people back in the day do without dentists & why do I have these problems???

My teeth have suffered from decalcification. Basically, the enamal that protects my teeth from cavities is all but gone. There are a couple of reasons why this happened, but it doesn’t really matter at this point. I went through several visits to a dentist and he proceded to fill small cavities and etc, but every time I went, he would find more. he even started finding cavities next to the places he just filled. I do take care of my teeth, brush daily and sometimes floss. Frankly, I quit going to that dentist becasue I didn’t see the point of going to the dentist once a month if only to fill a never ending barrage of cavities. Is there no way to restore any protection for my teeth once the enamal is gone? Will vaneers help or only just hide the continueing damage underneath?

Does it hurt to have your teeth professional whitened?
I have extremely sensitive teeth. I have to go back to the dentist because when I had my braces, my teeth weren’t taken care of like they should’ve been and I believe I may have a couple cavities now. Will they get rid of those before bleaching my teeth?

i brush really carefully twice a day, rinse with listerine in the afternoon, and floss at night. but i also love candy and eat a lotof it. i am 17 and have never had a cavity. the reason why i am asking this is because my mom came home from work with a huge box of lollipops, and i cant seem to stay away from them

I had 3 teeth filled in about 2 or 3 weeks and now when i chew on that side of my mouth, it hurts. And when i drink something cold, it hurts too. At first i didnt care because i thought it would go away quick but now its starting to get annoying. Is this normal or a sloppy job from the dentist? If its normal, will it go away sooner or later?

I know a few people that have never or rarely had professional oral care and they’re teeth look “perfect”. One or two cavities, straight teeth, never a major problem with their teeth.
And then there are people like me who have suffered w/dental problems despite seeing a dentist on a regular basis.
Is it soley based on one’s diet? Or do genes play a role too?

I have very unhealthy teeth.
Every time I go to the dentist (once a year) I have at least 4 cavities.
There has never been a time in my life when I went to the dentist and didn’t have cavities.
Part of the reason (or most of it) is because I didn’t brush regularly like a retard.
So, now that I’m past that retarded stage, I wanted to know what the best way to brush and floss are, and how frequently.
1) How do you floss?
2) How often? Every time you eat?
3) How often should I brush my teeth?
4) Should I use a mouth wash?
5) If you do have to brush every time you eat, how do you do it at work or school?
Oh, and the dentist always tells me I need more calcium … so part of the reason I get cavities could be my teeth are weak.
I really need to know how to properly take care of my teeth, because the dentist always asks if I floss … I do floss, but I guess I’m doing it wrong.

I see so many answers/questions on here that shock me. Like start brushing at age 2. Don’t see the dentist till they are 3.
I started brushing my kids teeth (with the Kidz Pre-Step toothpaste) when the first one came in. I take my kids to the dentist every 6 months starting at one year old. This is what the Canadian Pediatric Society recommends.
So my questions are:
How old are your kids?
When did you start brushing their teeth?
How many times a day do you do it?
When did they go to the dentist the first time?
How frequently do they go?
Do they have any cavities?

I take REALLY good care of my teeth. I brush, floss, mouthwash, everyday and I brush and mouthwash in the morning. I’ve done it a lot! And then, I went to the dentist and she said I had a teeny cavity (they didn’t even need pain killer)! I got my first cavity in an adult tooth. Are my teeth prone to cavities? If they are, can you give me tips to keep them healthy?
