I have a 14 week old Bichonpoo. I use a toothbrush that is like a rubber tip that fits on my index finger. I put a little doggie toothpaste on it and just use the tip of my finger to clean her teeth.

You can brush his teeth every day if you want to, the more you do it the better his teeth will be. Use a soft toothbrush and doggie toothpaste so it tastes good to him. It also helps if you give him a rawhide to chew on, gets rid of the plaque.

Well i brush my Cookie’s teeth daily. Once in the morning when i wake up. This help to prevent bad breathe which dog may be prompt to have. Just drop by to the nearest pet shop and buy a doggy tooth brush and paste.

I let the groomer do it then i buy him a milkbone that is suppose to clean their teeth i know my dog does not let me stick my hands in his mouth for a long period of time or the vet but he gives him something to sleep while he cleans them

I have a cat, and believe me, brushing a pet’s teeth requires 2 people. You need one to hold the animal and one to brush it’s teeth. I’d suggest once a week.
You can find chicken flavored dog toothpaste at places like Petsmart, along with rubber toothbrushes for pets.

I used to think “Greenies” must be junk food for cats and dogs, since our kittens love them so much! I had to take my 10 month old kitten to our holistic vet today, and she said her teeth were wonderfully clean. She also said Greenies are not bad for your pet (in moderation). Why torture yourself and your pet with toothbrushes? It ain’t natural. The other poster above was right. Try Greenies. They might even make a Greenie chew bone for dogs. You won’t be sorry.

A large pet supply store, or the pet supply department at a large discount store, will have specially made toothbrushes for dogs. These are much easier to use in a dog’s mouth than a human one. They also have better grips. Be sure you also get specific DOG toothpaste. The stuff for humans isn’t totally safe for dogs, from what I’ve heard. On the package of the toothpaste or the brush will be instructions. I can’t imagine a sheltie would need toothbrushing any more or less than any other dog.

Your vet has special brushes & toothpaste for dogs. after 2 or 3 times he/ she will love it.

I make a “bridel” out of a leather chew (about the diameter of a pencil and about 6-8 inches long) with rubber bands to hold it in my dogs mouth behind his back teeth. The rubber bands go to the back of his head. This holds his mouth open, It doesn’t hurt him. ( He doesn’t like it, but he doesn’t like his teeth brushed either) I use the chiken flavored tooth paste with an electric toothbrush that the front part spins. I do this once a week. For some reason he gets bad breath quick.

you buy dog biscuits or marrow bones, dogs don’t need you to brush their teeth they do it themselves by chewing

You can brush your dogs teeth but don’t use human toothpaste. A good thing to do is give your dog stuff to chew. There are products out there that is good for your dogs teeth. Go to your pet store.
Do check your dogs teeth regularly. This effect their health greatly when they get old.

a petstore should have a special toothbrush and toothpaste. my vet told me to brush thier teeth once a week. however i always used a regular old toothbrush with a dab of regular toothpaste.

I brush my dog’s teeth every night after her dinner using a finger toothbrush (for babies) and toothpaste (for dogs). I start from the sides and then move to the front, so that she cannot lick off the toothpaste. My dog loves the taste of the toothpaste, so she kinda enjoys her teeth being brushed.
