The way steps don’t really matter, usually we tell patients to brush first, then floss, then use mouthwash.
Make sure you use proper brushing techniques, even if you spend a half hour brushing this does not guarantee that you have gotten all the spots with plaque. Using a “soft” bristle toothbrush, start from the gum line with your brush at a 45 degree angle and sweep away from the gum line 10 times per tooth. On oclusal surfaces, use a circling motion. Make sure you floss every other day, be careful not to damage your gums. Then use your mouthwash for 30 secs and don’t rinse afterwards. Brush after every meal (3 times a day). Get cleanings every 6 months.
My DDS said it didn’t mater what order, but I prefer to floss first – just figure the brush can hit the surfaces better with the gunk gone. I don’t bother with the mouth wash except to put some in the water for my water pick. Get yourself a water pick – you wouldn’t believe how much junk you will get out – especially if you have receding gums.
as long as u brush twice a day,in the morning and at night and floss everyday u will be fine. also mk sure that the brush is a soft brush. put the brush on your gums and brush up for your lower and do the oppisite for the top that way if plaque starts forming u will brush it out. good luck, and like they say u don’t have to floss all your teeth just the ones u want to keep. LOL
The order doesn’t really matter. You need to brush two times a day for 2 minutes each and floss every day! Mouthwash really only helps with your breath. Regular cleanings at the dentist–usually every 6 months but some need to go every 3 or 4 months.
