If you are being put under you wont feel it at all during the procedure. I had a root canal a couple of years ago, and they gave me a prescription for pain killers afterward. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine!
Umm you will feel a little sting at first while they are doing it but then the numbness starts to work so you really don’t feel it, but when you get home and the numbness goes away it will hurt to move your mouth and also eating!!! I’m sure they will tell you but after every meal and at night (sometimes morning) you will have to gurgle with salt water to keep it from getting infected that will hurt a little too, but don’t worry!!! Within a few weeks the pain will subside and no longer hurt
!!
Piece of cake sweetheart. Your anterior teeth only have one root so it won’t be a tough procedure. Relax, you’ll be fine.
nope, I had it done – it was fine….there was just some pinching-but, you will get thru it. My teeth hurt 100% more before I had it done – so, I was thankful I had this done.
I had 2 root canals done but they did them at the same time as my wisdom teeth so I had the good drugs and I don’t remember a thing. As far as recovery goes it wasn’t too bad. I had some sensitivity in those 2 teeth for awhile but for the most part now they are fine. Every now and again they start hurting but I think it’s only because I grind my teeth when I sleep. I’m sure every thing will go fine…good luck to you.
Root treatment is like having a filling. When you have had some gas and are nice and relaxed, the dentist will numb the teeth. He will then drill a small hole in the back of the tooth and remove the nerve using a fine needle with tiny barbs on it, this is painless. Once the nerve is out, the dentist cleans out the space that the nerve was in with tiny files and water. The space needs to be made wider to allow the dentist to put a permanant filling in. The treatment is time consuming rather than painful and you will need to keep your mouth open wide. Try and relax and good luck.
I went through this myself two years ago. I doubt if there’s anyone who hates the dentist more than me because of a traumatic experience when I was a young lad. I asked around to see what others thought and got the same response. No, it doesn’t hurt at all, So I went in feeling better about it and they were right, I did have some pain later for a couple of days but nothing a couple of Advil didn’t solve. Last year I had another root canal but this time I had no pain after. Best of luck and stop worrying.
trust me it wont hurt – all youll feel is pressure – back in the day they were horrible – now its a simple procedure – your mouth may be sore after wards ( mine wasnt just tender ) but you wont be in excruciating pain wanting to die – you probally get more pain form a headache –
dont worry girl youll be alright – and if the pain is a little too intense tell the dentist the pain killers he prescribed you arent doing it and im sure hell prescribe something a little stronger -
Depends on your dentist. But most likely it won’t be too painful. The only thing you feel is a slight pinch when the dentist initially inject you with the pain killer; then it’s a free ride after that. However after it’s all done you’ll feel some discomfort for a few days and you can take some over the counter Advil’s or Tylenol for it.
I had two root canals done on my front teeth at the same time also…all I got was novacaine, but that shot was the worst part about it. The rest I thought was fun. I was completely lucid, but my entire mouth was numb, so I couldn’t feel a thing they were doing, but it was cool to hear them grating in and out of my empty roots, and feeling them kinda yanking my head up and down because they were using such force! Plus, I didn’t really have any lingering pain afterward once the novacaine wore off…pretty cool I thought. With gas, you shouldn’t have anything to worrry about at all.
I have the biggest fear of dentists, and have had two root canals, and I can honestly tell you that you will be fine. Even the novocaine shots arent that bad if they put the gel on your gums first that numbs your gums. The worst part of it is honestly that it takes so long that it actually gets boring sitting there so long. Bring a walkman or ipod to help pass the time.
