My Dachshund’s Front Teeth Are Rotting Off, What Should I Do?

I want to take her to the vet but my mom says its natural for them to loose there teeth at an old age. My mom is still old fashion, she’s from mexico, and over there they really don’t care for dogs much. So please give me some advice!?

It is natural for them to start losing their teeth that way – but it’s also natural for them to fight, eat from bins, and die young. So it’s not a case of what’s natural, it’s a case of what’s best for the dog.
A dog with rotting teeth would be in a lot of pain. If it goes on long enough, it will put her off eating. You should definitely try get her to a vet within the next few weeks to have the teeth pulled – just imagine how much it must hurt to have her teeth rotting in her mouth.
Best of luck.

it may be natural, but it isn’t healthy.
if the teeth are rotting, there is a very real possibility of infection getting into the bloodstream – which could kill your dog.
aside from that, rotting teeth are painful, the dogs mouth is sore, and it will be very hard for the dog to eat properly nutritious food – because the dog is going to start eating only soft foods.
advice is to call the vet, tell them you may have to pay them over time, explain about the teeth, and ask how soon they can see your dog.

definitely get him into the vet.
Some dogs especially small breeds have a predisposition to periodontitis because their mouths are so small but still hold 42 teeth.
What happens over the years is that plaque builds up and turns into calculus or tartar.
The tartar eventually eats away at the tooth causing it to decay.
If the infection is severe it can affect the entire jaw. The best thing to do is have your dog on a professional cleaning schedule. At what your vet recommends.
I have large breed dogs and i do my dogs every three years.
In hopes that when they are older their teeth will hold up when they cannot be put under anesthesia.
What will most likely happen is that they will clean the teeth, and pull the bad ones. Your dog will be much happier after

While your mom may not value your dog’s health as much as you do, you need to try and make her understand the responsibility of owning a pet. The responsibility includes bringing her to the vet to see if there is anything they can do for her. They may suggest trying a different type of food or a type of vitamin they may strengthen her teeth.

bring it to the vet and get it a dentistry. That can be very painful, and sometimes the teeth can abcess. Anyway; if nothing else, try brushing your dog’s teeth; it may not get rid of the stuff on there already but it will help stop more from forming.

Tell your mom she’s in the United States now where people take care of their pets. Tell her they can also arrest people if they neglect their pet.
Your dog needs to see a vet regardless of age. Dental pain is among the worst of pains.

Your dog can die from an infection in his mouth. Take him to the vet and have them check and clean his teeth. Let them know the dog’s age.

Take him to the vet. They’ll clean the good teeth and pull the bad ones. It’s not extremely expensive–at least not where I live but it needs to be done.

Only one answer … VETS!!
You will be causing your dog alot of discompfort if not taken to the vets. The gums will get infections. Your dog can’t tell you how much pain their in but your vet can!!
