Can Dentist Fix Gapped Front Teeth In Adults And What Is The Procedure?
Does any insurance cover getting front teeth with a gap taken care of ? And what do the dentists usually do with that type of situation ? Do they put on only a brace for the front teeth or is it to late when an individual is older? What is the usual span of how long it takes for the procedure to work?
Braces are an elective procedure so most carriers may not cover it. You will get them on the whole upper because everything will need to be realigned not just 1 or 2 teeth. It takes anywhere from 6 months to 3 years depending on the procedure, the gap, and the general health of the orthidontae.
In my family’s experience, braces take two years. There are newer options that are almost invisible, such as Invisalign, and therefore are more desirable to adults (but less desirable for insurance companies because they may be more expensive). Check your insurance policy and ask what they cover. I know that my policy covered the cost of braces when I was in high school. I would also definitely look into veneers next time you see the dentist. They cost between $900-$1500 per tooth, and people have the front six or ten veneered. They last for the rest of your life, and they can be tinted to match the rest of your teeth. I’m not sure if insurance covers them. I would suggest calling your company and asking which dental cosmetic procedures are covered by you policy, as they differ greatly depending on the company and the specific policy. I can’t suggest a specific company with good dental insurance, but I believe that most will at least help cover the basics (i.e. braces). Good luck!
A lot of people get veneer work done to fill gaps between teeth but the work doesn’t last as long as it would with getting the teeth capped. However, getting this work done could leave the teeth being too wide and give you the effect of “Chiclet teeth”. Braces are a better and more painful solution but the results look more natural. If you can afford it, go for the braces.
Braces are the best solution. It takes up to 2 years.
