Im Pregnant And My Teeth And Gums Are Really Sensitive Right Now Is This Normal?
okay, i usually take really good care of my teeth, i brush and floss them, mouth wash to. but now my teeth and gums are sort of sensitive espeacailly my front teeth. They keep on bleeding a little bit (gums) and ive realized that im proudcing alot more saliva than usual. Is this normal in pregnancy?
yet again im only 14, so keep the comments, well not to harsh.
bt, im sorta ocd about my dental care ><
Sensitive teeth and gums are normal during pregnancy. Continue your normal routine (brushing, flossing, etc.) and you can continue to see your dentist. If you don’t consume enough calcium, the baby will take it from YOUR body (teeth and bones) so make sure you’re taking your prenatal vitamins! If your gums are bleeding excessively then you need to contact your provider/dentist. Having increased saliva is also common among some women during pregnancy. For some women, it is extremely bothersome. If it’s really bothering you, then you should talk to your OB/GYN provider. There’s not a whole lot that can be done about it, but any serious changes in your health or in the health of your unborn baby need to be noted in your chart. During pregnancy, some women are more prone to caries (cavities) so make sure that you brush well and often. Take care!
Yes, when you are pregnant your gums will bleed a little more than usuall. You have more blood flowing through body and more hormones flowing as well. So your gums may be sensitive to all the extra blood flowing through them.
I had this problem too and ended up having thousands of dollars of dental work done. It was because my calcium was being depleted from the baby and I wasn’t drinking enough milk to replenish it. I too had beautiful teeth before that and i really miss my beautiful smile now that alot of the dental work is in bad need of repair, but I’m too much of a chicken to have it done.
Yes, it is suppose to be hormonal. Talk to your doctor or dentist.
yes so normal but cont. to take really good care of them!
Its common but that is not to say its “normal”. But 14 how common is that. I expect so much of our young people and all we get is more welfare babies……
Ya, it happens. Just keep taking care of them. And maybe switch to a toothpaste that is for sensitive teeth.
yes. a bit of gum bleeding is actually normal during pregnancy. and the saliva…my doctor put it this way, “there will be an excess of fluids coming from everywhere.” i had extra sinus drainage and was sneezing constantly.
yes that happened to me i really take good care of my teeth but when i got pregnant my teeth became sensitive and started bleeding
There are many reasons your gums seem hypersensitive during pregnancy. Hormonal changes in the body soften the tissues in the mouth and may contribute to bleeding or inflammation. The increasing blood volume circulating throughout your body can also contribute to swelling in the gums and tenderness in the mouth. Typically switching to a softer tooth brush and routine flossing can help alleviate many symptoms. you can apply some ice also on the sore gums to ease the soreness
