The Metal Caps On My Teeth Keep Falling Off!?

About a year ago, I got two teeth taken care of at a dentist‘s office. Both of the teeth were given root canals and caps. I have had both root canals and steel caps done before, but these didn’t feel the same. It took a long time for the caps to feel “normal” on my teeth; I kept sensing that they didn’t fit right. I was told not to worry; the caps would last me for a long time.
Soon after, the cap on one of the teeth fell off. I had to go to the dentist‘s office and have it put back on. Although I was told that the two teeth wouldn’t hurt after the root canals, I have been having intermittent pain in both of them.
Well, I was eating at a party last night, and the cap on the other tooth came off. When I felt something hard in my mouth, I assumed it was a bad piece of food and I threw it away. I then realized that the cap of my tooth had been in there. But, my friends told me not to embarass myself by digging in the host’s trash can, so I didn’t retrieve the cap.
I think the dentist‘s office did these procedures wrong. Do you think they will at least mold me a new cap for free, since this appears to be their fault? Or should I just go somewhere else, since they don’t seem to be doing things correctly?

You were given metal crowns? If the crowns were metal then they were more than likely “pre -fabricated” crowns meaning you did not have a temporary for about two weekd and they were not sent to a lab, the dentist simply took silver crowns that are already made and put them on the Root Canal teeth. If this is the case ask the Office if you can get a custom crown or a lab made crown. Reguardless the office should give you a crown at no charge, since insurance typically does not cover crowns that are not 5 years old or older. In our office, if something happens to a crown before the 5 years is up the dentist takes care of it. But go to the Dentist ASAP, root cannal teeth are weak teeth so avoid eating on these teeth as they brake easily, I hope all goes well.
