Will Your Teeth Really Fall Out, Or Is That Just A Figure Of Speech?
I had three of my wisdom teeth removed when I was seventeen. The final one was in a bad position for removal, and the orthodontist told me that it would be best to wait on that last one for the time being.
Well, now I am 34, and that wisdom tooth came in straight as an arrow several years ago. I thought it was so cool that I actually had one of my wisdom teeth! Unfortunately, over the past few months it had started to hurt a little bit, then a little bit more, then a lot more! I kept thinking that if I took care of it like I do the rest of my teeth, it would be okay, but it just kept hurting.
Then suddenly, it stopped hurting altogether. Like overnight, no pain at all. Someone told me that it’s possible that the nerve has died, and that it’s only a matter of time before the tooth falls out. If that’s the case, couldn’t I save myself a trip back to the orthodontist and just wait for nature to take it’s course?
If I’m totally wrong, please tell me.

Pjallittle is correct. There is a lull before the storm. Any pain you had will seem like a cakewalk once the tooth is totally infected. Then you will be introduced to a whole new world of pain, abcesses, nasty stuff in your mouth… ugh. Untreated infections can kill you; a young boy just died a few weeks ago after a tooth infection entered his bloodstream and traveled to his brain. Furthermore, if the tooth becomes seriously infected, the dentist will be unable to pull it until after the infection has been treated – which means another week of agony. Have the tooth pulled immediately.
it won’t fall out but I would go have it xrayed. The nerve may have died, but usually you would have some sensation. You could get an infection, or the tooth may decay. Check it out.
good if it doesnt hurt
but get it examined by ur dentist
leave it as it is if it does not hv any problem
I had all of my wisdom teeth removed (two were impacted) when I was 20 – I would definitely get yourself to your dentist/orthodonist because just letting it fall out could lead to infection. Just get it pulled; you don’t need it anyway.
it’s quite possible that it will, fall out. I had 1 pulled & now yrs later it has affected the movement/crowding of the remaining teeth. & yeah, the nerve probably did die
I would go to the dentist and ask, if it is not bothering you he may think it is a bad idea to pull it aswell.
But I live in canada… a visit is free here, I don’t know about there.
I’m 2X your age and can tell you for sure that you don’t wait around for the pain to start up again. That’s just the lull before the next storm, believe me, you should listen to one who’s had experience in putting things off only to find out how devastating it may become.
Dental infections which go hand in hand with exactly what you’ve described lead to septic infections that go right to your vital organs. In my case, to the heart valve so now I’m facing major heart surgery.
Don’t make the same mistake, please!!!
